And the Saga Continues

Hey everyone, welcome to the Poverty Hill ramblings. Well the saga continues on. I went to my PH specialist yesterday all ready after stressing all week about starting the new medicine, Sub Q Remodulin. Before going to his office I had to go to the hospital and have blood drawn for whatever tests, who knows, a six minute walk, and a chest X-ray. Needless to say these test were done in the morning and my doctors appointment wasn't until the afternoon. Anyway Judi and I got all the morning appointments taken care of and we went and had a great lunch. Gawd I'm thinking, I hate to start this new medicine, but if I gotta, I'm gonna do it on a full stomach.....laffin. Judi is all stressed out as usual but hates letting me know. Little to her knowledge I can read her like a book........Well of course we have a few hours to go until my doctors appointment so guess what we do.......thats right......shop, ugghhhhhhh. Shopping of course makes all women feel better..lol.
Appointment time, we see the doc and he's reading the results from my 6 minute walk and he starts dialing the phone. He has been on the phone with Dr Fagan at the Pulmonary Hypertension Center in Mobile all morning discussing my case with her. To make the story shorter, my 6 minute walk was considerably better than the last one I did. They discuss this back and forth and he hangs up the phone and looks at me, scares the hell outta me, but then starts smiling. He says that he and Dr Fagan want to hold off on the Remodulin until after Dr Fagan and he can get together and look over my charts and that he has made an appointment for me to see her and let her check me out in person. Well I have an appointment on the 2nd of Jun to see her and Dr Babar, my PH specialist will meet with her on the 3rd of Jun. It really doesn't break my heart to hold off on the new med, but of course I know it could be just a temporary delay. Anyway the Saga continues, as does the stress, that is IF I let stress get to me.....which I don't.......laffin...(much).
Well guess I better get offa here before Miss Judi pops that whip again. So long from Poverty Hill.........yall come!

Passing on the Memorys

Hello everyone, things are the same as usual here on Poverty Hill. The weather has been beautiful the past few days, the temps in the 70's and cool mornings and afternoons which is my main stirring times. Yesterday was my oldest Grandsons birthday, he's 10 years old now......gawd I'm getting old, but of course I'm doing it gracefully. I didn't realize how old I was until the Grand kids wanted me to tell them "about the good ole days.".....lol. They sit and listen with their eyes glued to me as I make up old stories....some which are true...but most made from the imagination that I know will entertain them with laughter and wonder. I can see in their eyes that they are taking in every word with wonder and amazement as I tell these tales that in no way are even close to being the truth.....lol. I have to tell them stories of my childhood adventures with Indians, great hunting tales, the moonshiner days and of course about the old troll that lives under the bridge. They want to know about the surgery scars on me, that have instantly turned into places where the Indians shot me, but of course I escaped and wiped em all out. These are the times that I am glad to be here, to spend time with my Grandchildren, to pass on stories that I was told by my Grandfathers and that maybe someday they will tell their children and Grandchildren. Times that will give them memories of me, as the memories I have of my Grandparents.
My Children are wonderful, but theres something more about Grandchildren. I guess when I was younger I was so caught up with making a living for them that I didn't have as much time to spend with them as I do now with my Grandchildren. Not that they were neglected by a long shot, they still love the stories too.
Well I guess that's enough of the exploits of the Poverty Hill Hero for now, I still got my chores to do before Missy Judi pops that whip. So long for now, yall come if ya can, if not, know that you're always welcome high atop the hill.

Happy Mothers Day

Thank You Lord for another day. Hi everyone, A Happy Mothers Day to all the Mothers everywhere. As you all know as I do, every day should be Mothers Day. We could never say thank you enough to our Mothers. From the time we are born they've given, given us life, given us morals and direction, given us understanding and compassion, but most of all they've given us unconditional love.
One day a year doesn't even begin to give back what we owe to these wonderful ladies.
All of the child bearing, the dirty diapers, the house cleaning, washing, the caring of skinned knees, broken hearts.....anyway there is no way to mention all of the things our mothers have done for us in our lives. Please accept my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. A Mother, a woman is a precious gift, may God bless each of you.
To those of you who still have your Mother, let her know how much you care for her. Tell her how much you appreciate even the smallest things in life she has done for you.
I wish I could.

Natures Thrills

Thank You Lord for another day. Hi everyone, I arose this morning before the rooster even woke up. I was feeling all chipper and full of vigor......no not vinegar...vigor. I decided Levi and I, my trusted companion, the other one besides Judi, would take a walk down to the creek and look at the waterfall and see if the beavers had dammed the creek up. Away we went, Levi looking around and running ahead of me and myself just looking around enjoying what Mother Nature has provided us with. I felt great, the walk down to the imfamous Big Boy Washhole was a breeze. Walking down the shady path through the woods, the cool morning breeze blowing in my face, thinking what a wonderful day it is. But Hark, what did I hear, my trusty companion barking at the top of his lungs. Curiously i walked over to see what had Mr Levi's undivided attention. OH CRAP, a diamond back rattlesnake was curled up there, sunning himself on an old log. After grabbing my companion and making him back off I immediately made haste to my journey back to the top of Poverty Hill. My journey along the mornings nature visit was over, I'd had all the nature I wanted for one day. God made all creatures, but there's some we could've done without.
Not that I was scared or anything like that, it's just that it doesn't take me long to look at a snake.....(laffin)right, I was scared crapless. After about 8 rest stops coming back up the hill I finally made it back up on Poverty Hill. I'm thinking the walk up the hill has finished me for the day, I'm totally exhausted, I think after i clean out my britches, I'll take a nap. Anyway yall have a nice day, and I'll be looking for yall around the PHA websites. Waving to everyone from high atop Poverty Hill, thanks for stopping by.

Its the Little Things in life

Thank You Lord for another day.
Hi again everyone from TW up on Poverty Hill. Judi and I have been gone a few days visiting kin folks. They told us to c'mon down, that the coon hunting and fishing was some kinda fine this time of the year, now who in their right mind can turn down an invitation like that. We didn't fish or coon hunt but the vittles wuz some kinda fine and we had a great time.
While we were there in Butch's Holler, I was sitting on the front porch a whittlin a piece of wood and petting the hound dogs, I got to thinking. It seems that it's the little things in life we seem to overlook doing. In our busy schedules we don't take time to slow down and do things that we should be. In the older dayz when we were growing up we had big, huge, humongous family get togethers. This was a time when we all got together to see our parent, Grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles, cousins, you know the whole family. These were happy times when laughter was heard everywhere. Nowadays, most people couldn't tell you where their siblings live, much less anyone else in the family. The closeness is all but gone it seems, except for your immediate family. Of course its noones fault but our own, and Imma wondering, how did we ever let it get this way. Our children and Grandchildren will never get to see those happy times. I guess family values just aren't what they used to be, but you know as good as i know, THEY SHOULD BE.
I guess in this new generation of hustle and bustle, computers, and technology, everyone has outgrown the old family values. And we, as the older bunch of this new lifestlye have adjusted and had to grow with it, leaving behind the old values but still remembering them. It's amazing the things you think about when you get ta whittlin.
I think maybe we should take a little time, slow down, and tell our wife or husband how much we love them and appreciate them. Call our children and tell them how much we love them and how proud we are of them. Instead of wondering how an Aunt or Uncle is, pick up the phone and call them and ask them how they are. These are a few things that we should do. Not that it would be anything close to the closeness of familie in the old dayz, but it is a lot better than things that go undone or unsaid. As we all know, we never know what tomorrow will bring.
Well i guess I better go for now, I gotta get these whittlin shaving up before Miss Judi knocks my up side tha head. So solong from Poverty Hill, oh yeah and by the way, I really appreciate your friendship, it means a lot to me.
See Ya Soon
